Wanderful Balance (Jim Kleefeld)......$25.00
Implementing this effect starts when the magician brings out the wand resting
on a fancy wooden stained stand. The performer states that some magic
wands have two white ends, but this one is directional and has a single white
tip so he always knows in which direction the magic will happen. The
magician says, I've never waved this wand in the wrong way and caused a
big explosion like Marcola the Great did over in Poughkeepsie. Boy, was that
a mess."
After the magician uses the wand in the act he replaces it on the stand,
carefully centering it and pausing a moment to admire it. He apologizes for
the delay, but explains that the wand is a prized possession and he cannot
just toss it on the table. He wants to make sure it does not roll or fall off its
stand. After using the wand in another trick, it is once again returned to the
stand. This time, it is seen to be balanced at the extreme end without falling.
The magician does this without comment or attention', and just goes on with
the act.
This is repeated a few more times, where each time the magician uses the
wand and returns it to the stand it is placed in an extremely different position
from the previous time without falling. The magician pays no particular
attention to the visual oddity, but the audience will surely notice, and be
greatly amusing and puzzled. This is one of those little mysteries that's not an
earth-shaker, but helps to make a great little interlude between the
performer's other more important effects.
