Here's an easy to do effect that requires no sleight of hand, yet
creates a very good effect.

Thirteen cards are counted off the top of the performer's deck and
placed face down onto the table.  The rest of the pack is placed
aside.  The packet of thirteen cards is picked up and the faces of
the cards are riffled to show that they are all different.  Now the
thirteen cards are alternately counted back onto the table with one
card going face up and the next one face down, the next card face
up, the next card face down, and continues until all the cards are
mixed.  The cards are spread over the table top and the magician
asks the spectator to select one of the face up cards, remember its
name, and then turn it face down and place it back into the spread,
and then to mix up the cards so its location is not known to anyone.
During these past actions the performer's back has been turned so
as not to see which card was selected.  Now the performer turns
back to face the spectators.  The performer squares up the thirteen
cards and commands the mixed cards to rearrange themselves so
that they are all facing in the same direction once again with the
exception of the selected card.  When the cards are re-spread on
the table all the cards are face down with the exception of one card
which is face up.  The face up card is the selected card!

You receive the necessary thirteen cards and instructions.  You'll
need to supply the red back Fox Lake deck required to match the
thirteen card packet.
