This classic piece of magic apparatus is excellent for a good number
of silk effects. Open the two doors of the cabinet and allow the
audience to look completely through proving it is entirely empty.
Re-close the doors and push in a white silk handkerchief through one
of the end holes in the cabinet. The silk passes through the cabinet
and is removed from the opposite hole and it is seen to have changed
color from white to red! Push in the red silk and cause it to change
color again, this time from red to blue! If you wish the blue silk can be
dyed into another different color as well. Or just push in a silk and
have it completely vanish as both doors are allowed to drop down to
expose an empty interior! Great for a production as well. Show the
cabinet empty, re-close the doors, and then start producing silks from
the ends of the cabinet!
Instead of silks you can use items like ribbons or ropes with equal
effect. You'll find the Silk Cabby to be a very versatile piece of
apparatus limited only by your own imagination!
