The magician fans three playing cards face down. Closing them,
he turns the top card face up. This card is placed on the bottom of
the packet and without any moves, instantly appears back on the
top. Not satisfied, the magician once again places the card on the
bottom, only to have it reappear back on top. Even a spectator
can place the card on the bottom.
Of course, the answer appears obvious. Since only one card at a
time has been shown it must be that all the cards are the same!
But are all the cards the same? The cards are turned face up and
dropped on the table for the spectator's investigation. Two of the
cards are the same (but they are not the card that kept travelling to
the top) and the third is the different card that kept appearing on
the top!
