The performer shows two metallic bars, which look like ordinary bar
magnets. The bars are painted, red at one end, and black at the
opposite end. The bars behave just like a pair of magnets should.
When opposite color ends are brought together, the bars attract,
and when similar colored ends are brought together, the bars repell
each other. The magician places a magical spell over the magnets
and then things go haywire.
First the same colored ends attract each other, while the opposite
colored ends repell. Then all the ends attract, whether of the same
color or the opposite color. Then all the ends repell, whether of the
same color or opposite color.
Finally, the magician reverses his magic spell, and everything is
back to normal once again with ends of opposite color attracting
each other and ends of the same color repelling each other all in
accordance with the known scientific laws of magnets!
