A red and a blue back deck, in their cases, are placed on the table.
The spectator is given custody of the red deck, and this pack is
never touched again by the magician. The spectator now freely
selects any number from one to fifty-two (the number of cards in the
pack). Now the blue deck is thoroughly shuffled by the spectator.
Taking the blue deck, the performer turns the cards face up, one at a
time, slowly and fairly. Each card is seen to be different. The
magician is stopped at any time and the selected card is shown to
be, for example, the Ten of Spades.
At this point the spectator counts to his freely selected number in the
red deck which has never left his custody. Every card is turned face
up and seen to be different, and, believe it or not, the Ten of Spades
is found at his freely selected number!
When you consider this brain busting effect is accomplished with
any two ungimmicked decks under the above conditions, it is
apparent that any audience will be left totally baffled!
This effect is as terrific on stage as close-up. Merely give the
spectator a jumbo deck which you never touch. With a jumbo deck
each card is visible to everyone and the impossibility of the effect is
magnified. This can be a feature in any program!
