Impossible Escape (Okito)......$4.00
The theme of escape and penetration featured in this Okito series is one of
the most interesting in magic. Tricks involving penetration are relative
novelties to many spectators. Okito performs a charming close up
sequence consisting entirely of penetration effects. He tells the audience
that magicians have a hard time creating new mysteries because, frankly,
the range of their wonders is limited. They can make objects appear, or
they can make them disappear, or they can do both things at the same
time and thus cause the objects to change places. Then they are stuck:
what else can they do? He says he will show them a series of variations on
a new magical theme: matter through matter.
This confidential explanation of a magician's problems is interesting to
people and serves to build up their expectations about the mysteries to
follow, which they feel might be quite unusual. Okito's presentation, in this
respect, is an outstanding example of proving a rule by breaking it - the rule
in this case being that all of the tricks in your program should be entirely
different in effect. Normally , the rule is a good one, but by breaking it
completely, and telling them you are going to do it - Okito shows that it is
possible to get an even greater measure of interest and entertainment,
One of the effects Okito always uses in his penetration sequence is " The
Impossible Escape". It is a good mystery to present after you have done a "
covered" penetration such as "Ringer" (Okito Effect Number 4)
Effect: A solid and ungimmicked plastic ring visibly penetrates the center of
a ribbon in a most amazing and inexplicable manner!
