Haf N' Haf (Rabbit in the Hat Ranch)......$3.50
Here's a real little puzzler that will leave them scratching their heads.
There doesn't seem to be anyway that the performer is able to know
which numbers, and the corresponding cards related to those
numbers, that the spectators will eventually select. Yet, that is
exactly what happens. You'll love performing this one every chance
you get!
Six playing cards are introduced that have been cut in half so that
there is a packet of twelve half cards. These cards are thoroughly
shuffled by the performer and handed to one spectator. This first
spectator is asked to mix the cards once again and then to take a
pile for himself and to hand the remaining cards to a second
spectator. Each spectator is asked to count how many cards they
have secretly to themselves and to remember the number. When
both spectators have counted their cards both packets are placed
back together and the cards shuffled once again. During all of the
above the performer's back has been turned so as not to peek at
any of the cards or the spectator's counting actions.
Now the performer turns back to face the spectators and picks up
the packet of half cards. The performer explains that he will, one at
a time, show each card to each spectator separately. Each
spectator is to mentally remember the name of the half card which
corresponds to the number they counted before. In other words, if
spectator #1 counted seven cards, they would remember the
seventh card shown, etc. The performer explains that it is important
that they don't make any gesture to let the performer know the card
they selected. The same procedure is repeated with spectator #2.
After the spectators have selected their cards the packet is shuffled
once again. The cards are fanned out in front of spectator #1 and
they are asked to remove the half card they remembered. The
same is done with spectator #2. Both spectators are asked not to
show their card to each other. After a short pause, with the
performer going over what has been done, etc. he takes both half
cards from the spectators and shows them to the audience. They
both match!
