The four Aces are removed from the deck and placed face up in a
row on the table. Three indifferent cards are shown and placed face
down, on each Ace. A spectator fairly selects one of the piles and
places it in their pocket and then takes the remaining nine indifferent
cards and the three remaining Aces and places them back into the
deck. The deck is cut a few times and then turned face up. Now the
cards are counted onto the table and it is seen that there are
forty-eight cards, but no Aces! The spectator is requested to remove
the pile of four cards that were placed into their pocket, and finds
that they now hold the four aces!
