Two cardboard squares and five bridge-size playing cards are
shown to the spectators. The packet of cards consist of four black
spot cards and one red court card. Please note that the cards you
receive may be different, but every set will consist of four similar
colored cards and one different colored card which will be called the
odd card.
The performer shows the two cardboard covers on both sides,
places them together, and places two elastic bands around them to
keep them tightly clamped together. Now the magician places the
odd colored card between the other four cards and then drops the
banded cardboard squares on top of the packet. After a few
seconds, the cardboard covers are picked up and placed aside as
the magician picks of the packet of cards and counts them. Only
four cards remain, and when the faces of the cards are shown, the
odd card is missing! When the elastic bands are removed from the
two pieces of cardboard the vanished odd card is found between
the two cardboard covers, apparently having magically penetrated
the lower piece of cardboard and other cards!
This effect is repeated once again with the same "fantastic" results!
The creative performer will come up with other ways to handle this
effect. As it is sold, there is no sleigh-of-hand required to perform
this routine, but with a little card handling brought into the picture this
routine could become one of your signature pieces.
