This trick with two one dollar bills and a five dollar bill is an adaptation
by Duke Stern. The original effect used playing cards, and was called
the New Phantom Cards (sold by Abbott's Magic Company), but
Duke found it much more effective with money. We agree!
Effect: The performer shows the three bills mentioned above. Then
the five dollar bill completely vanishes leaving a one dollar bill in its
place. No sign of the five dollar bill is evident as the three one dollar
bills are shown on each side. You really have to see this performed to
experience the effect this leaves on an audience. It is really quite a
baffler.
The bills accompanying the instructions are stage money. While the
trick can be performed with these bills, they are intended primarily
as samples, with which to learn the routine. The impact on an
audience is considerably greater if real bills are used. Once you learn
the routine with the stage bills supplied you can easily make it up with
real bills.
