Who is Winkler’s Warehouse & Services?

Winkler’s Warehouse & Services is a sole owned and operated
proprietorship.  It was created in 1986 by David Winkler of Oakdale,
Connecticut.  It was initially named Winkler’s Warehouse of
Wonders and remained so until the year 2000.  Because of
continued business growth a decision was made to separate the
business into four different sales divisions.  The new name,
Winkler’s Warehouse & Services encompasses all these
divisions.  The four business sales divisions are: magic and the
allied products; antiques & collectibles; postage stamps for
collectors (mainly U.S.) and electrical contracting.  Winkler’s
Warehouse & Services is a service based company that also
includes a retail shop with an eclectic array of new and used
products to suit a varied type of customer base.

Who is David Winkler?

David Winkler, who is also a licensed electrical contractor in the
state of Connecticut, initially founded Winkler’s Warehouse &
Services mainly as a magic supply company but since that time
has expanded his business to include his other areas of interest.

David was born on October 5th 1949 in New London, Connecticut
and became interested in magic at a fairly young age.  His first
actual exposure to magic was back in 1962 when Harry
Blackstone Sr. was selling magic tricks along with a slab of
bubblegum.  He acquired a number of these from a local
convenience store and soon was on his way into the fascinating
world of magic.

In 1965 he entered and won a first place trophy for the best
teenage magician at the New Haven, Connecticut magicians
convention called Magi-Whirl.  He cherishes this trophy to this day
and proudly displays it in the display case at the front of his shop.
He joined the Air Force in 1967 and served for four years.  One of
his tours of duty was in Vietnam as a voice radio operator.  While in
the military he performed magic on many different occasions and
the wonderful memories of the events and interesting people he
met in the service will last in his memory banks forever!

On August 26th 1984 he was married to his lovely wife Marcia and
a few years later they were blessed with a wonderful son Joseph.

While David loves magic he has two other two serious areas of
collecting interest.  They are postage stamps and general
collectibles.  In fact he actually started collecting stamps before he
got hooked on magic!  He enjoys all types of philatelic avenues but
his main interests are United States and foreign postal stationary,
which includes postal cards and stamped envelopes.  He belongs
to a local stamp club called “The Thames Stamp Club” plus other
well-known national groups.

In the vast arena of general collectibles his main interests are
antique and vintage clocks, radios, cigarette lighters, dice and
Coca Cola related items of all types.  Crossover items between
any of the collecting fields are particularly sought after.

David would love to hear from anyone interested in his collecting
areas and can be contacted at
